There have been plenty of times in my life when I have been involved in a group effort to take a meal to a family in need. Maybe someone just had a car accident, surgery, is going through chemo or any number of other reasons people find themselves overwhelmed and something as simple as bringing a meal can bring comfort.
Recently my co-workers and I used http://www.takethemameal.com and it worked flawlessly. Someone sets up the account, putting in information such as the person’s phone number and address as well as the dates that it would be good to deliver meals. There is a section to specify food allergies as well. Then everyone simply signs up for the date that works best for them and types in what they are bringing so there are no repeats. You can also write down if you are sending a gift certificate for take out or home delivery.
I typically like to stick with a basic casserole that can easily be thrown in the oven, but I don’t want to bring that if someone else is preparing a similar dish, so this site takes out the guess work. They have a variety of meals delivered to them. It is a quick and easy way to show someone that you care. I would highly recommend using this site if you find yourself and a group of friends reaching out to someone in need.
Do you have a go-to recipe you use when delivering meals to someone else?
